GREENSBORO, N.C. – ĢƵ has cracked the Top 20 among Southern regional colleges, ranking 19th in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best College ranks, .
That ranking is up from 44th in 2017.
ĢƵ also ranked No. 7 in the Southern region among Best Colleges for Veterans, a new category this year.
The magazine’s rankings are based on such factors as admission, retention, graduation, cost, peer evaluations and alumni giving participation, said President Lawrence D. Czarda, Ph.D.
While the college faced significant challenges in the early 2010s, it chose not to participate in such rankings. After the college began to stabilize in 2013-2014, it began to respond carefully to requests for such ranking data, Czarda said.
“This upward trend reflects the hard work, dedication and belief in ĢƵ’s mission by our faculty, staff, trustees, and alumni,” Czarda said. “Together, we will continue to advance our college toward our 200th anniversary” in 2038.
